A study in the
New England Journal of Medicine showed that weekly injections of 500 mL
of testosterone added an average of more than one pound of lean body
mass a week to male weight lifters out muscling fellow weight lifters
who received a placebo. It also increased the size of the triceps and
quadriceps of a second group of men who didnt exercise.
As men age
there is a gradual decline in testosterone levels. In the late forties
and early fifties the levels are about a third to a half of what they
were in the 20s. By the age of eighty to ninety testosterone has
decreased by about 60%
There is a male
version of menopause called andropause. When women go through menopause
there is no confusing it because their periods stop. However with men
the symptoms are not as obvious. These include reduced sex drive,
erectile dysfunction, and decreased sexual satisfaction, fatigue,
depression, irritability, aches and pains and stiffness.
In
one double blind study 12 out of 13 men could tell they were on the
active drug because they felt more aggressive and energetic. They also
said they performed better sexually, were initiating sex more, and
could maintain erections longer
In the film Wall Street, which symbolised the excess of the 1980s, the most successful traders were odious alpha-males with aggression seeping from every pore. But stereotypes often have a kernel of truth, and researchers from Cambridge University have concluded what everyone outside the City has always suspected. Money doesn't make the world go round: it's testosterone. The more that traders have, the richer they'll become - up to a point. John Coates, who used to manage a trading floor at Deutsche Bank on Wall Street but is now at the Judge Business School at Cambridge University, and Professor Joe Herbert, a neuroscientist, set out to study the brains of City traders to discover what makes them tick.
Testosterone Enanthate is probably the most commonly used form of testosterone by both athletes and bodybuilders alike. Although I don´t have any hard statistics on this, I´d be willing to bet that this form of testosterone is the most commonly used form of testosterone on the black market today. It´s very effective for building muscle and strength, losing fat, and is cheap & readily available. Read more...
TESTOSTERONE THERAPY Testosterone Propionate - an ester of testosterone, having the same actions as the free alcohol but with a relatively short duration of effect; used chiefly in the treatment of male hypogonadism, symptoms of male climacteric, postpubertal cryptorchidism, and inoperable female breast cancer, and to prevent postpartum breast engorgement; administered buccally or intramuscularly. TESTOSTERONE THERAPY Testosterone Cypionate - an ester of testosterone, having the same actions as the free alcohol but a prolonged duration of effect; used chiefly in the treatment of male hypogonadism, frigidity, and inoperable female breast cancer, to suppress lactation, and as an anabolic agent, administered by intramuscular injection. Called also t. cyclopentylpropionate. Testosterone is the androgenic hormone primarily responsible for normal growth and development of male sex and reproductive organs, including the penis, testicles, scrotum, prostate, and seminal vesicles. It facilitates the development of secondary male sex characteristics such as musculature, bone mass, fat distribution, hair patterns, laryngeal enlargement, and vocal chord thickening. Additionally, normal testosterone levels maintain energy level, healthy mood, fertility, and sexual desire. Testosterone production declines naturally with age. Testosterone deficiency (TD) may result from disease or damage to the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, or testicles that inhibits hormone secretion and testosterone production, and is also known as hypogonadism . Depending on age, insufficient testosterone production can lead to abnormalities in muscle and bone development, underdeveloped genitalia, and diminished virility.
Hypogonadism is a reduced or absent secretion of hormones
from the sex glands (gonads). In men, these are the testes;
in women, the ovaries.
Causes,
incidence, and risk factors
The cause of hypogonadism may be "primary" or "central."
In primary hypogonadism, the ovaries or testes themselves
do not function properly. Some causes include surgery; radiation;
genetic and developmental disorders; liver and kidney disease;
infection; and certain auto-immune disorders. The most common
genetic disorders are Turner syndrome (in women) and Klinefelter
syndrome (in men).
In
central hypogonadism, the centers in the brain that control
the gonads (hypothalamus and pituitary) do not function properly.
Some causes of central hypogonadism include tumors (growths);
surgery and radiation; infections; trauma; bleeding; genetic
problems; nutritional deficiencies; and iron excess (hemochromatosis).
A
genetic cause of central hypogonadism which also produces
an inability to smell is Kallmann syndrome (males). The most
common tumors affecting the pituitary area are craniopharyngioma
(children) and prolactinoma (adults, this leads to the production
of excess prolactin (which causes the breasts to produce milk,
among other functions). Prolactinomas cause hypogonadism even
if they are not large.
Growth hormone affects many parts of the body, including the bones, muscles, and fat. Children need growth hormone to grow taller. Adults also need growth hormone to maintain health. When the body does not produce enough of this hormone, growth hormone deficiency (GHD) occurs
GENOTROPIN® is human growth hormone replacement therapy that can be used to help compensate for low levels of growth hormone. GENOTROPIN® is exactly like the natural growth hormone produced by the body's pituitary gland.
Humatrope is the same in its chemical structure to the growth hormone that is naturally produced by the human pituitary gland. It is "man-made" (biosynthesized) through a process known as recombinant DNA technology. In the United States, Humatrope was the first commercially available "man-made" product in which the active constituent was chemically identical to growth hormone produced by the pituitary gland.
